Living
April 25, 2011Running
April 25, 2011I’ve now been working at Evolutions TV for about a month now as a runner! Although I get to interact with the editors producers see how things are put together in the edit suites etc it is far from the glamor and glitz! the only way into the industry which is proving to be stagnant! The question is do I pursue or do I go home? hmmm too early to quit!
Pathe
October 3, 2010Two weeks at Pathé start tomorrow! Don’t know what I’ll be in for but soho it is! Watch this space for pics and vids! Will be updated daily!
social networking
September 7, 2010Social Networking has the word ‘working’ in it. As a recent graduate this is a word we tend to avoid. Well atleast until we can survive. However 5 mins of Tweets, half hour of bloggin and constant facebook…. how about this for a Job. Hmmm how much is it worth? 20k a year? ‘Social media consultant’ or even ‘Social Media Executive’. Nice roles
Windows Movie Maker
May 14, 2010Shall I use Windows Movie Maker for PRP Presentation clips? Shall we let windows have this one?… Hmmm.. easy access or a trial version of Premier pro cs5? Macbook Pro is in the workshop… A sluggish windows os is on the menu. The joys!
Kikli Roadshow 2010 Promo
May 12, 2010This is the final version of the Kikli Roadshow Promo I made.
Artefact 5 – Summary
May 12, 2010For my fifth artefact I will investigate how the future of television can become a ‘Recommended for you’ channel on the Internet. I will investigate if this is already in place in various sources and how this can happen for the future of Internet television. I will look at how Internet technology can help to adapt this approach and propose a model that will demonstrate how it may work.
The investigation clearly demonstrated a big movement amongst broadcast companies, whether they be collaborating with each other or not it is imperative that demand online is a growing market which these companies are catering towards.
The companies services have also demonstrated smart features to ‘keep up’ with new services. E.g. on the BBC iPlayer viewers are now able to watch live TV. This has been a big development from when I initially researched into Internet Television.
With the services I looked at there were no imperative logins to suggest viewing history is noted except where internet cookies play their part.
I found that Sky Player was the most smart and advanced with user interactivity. Viewers are able to download and keep content for a period of time as well as subscribe to content which is aired on their satellite television service.
The most significant part of the investigation was looking at Project Canvas which scopes to dominate the IPTV market via linear television sets using a ‘set top box’. Fully integrated platform in development stages suggests users will be able to create their own channel suited to their individual needs.
My final artifact derives from this model of a personal TV channel routed via the internet using the convergence of technology and take on Web 3.0 approaches. I will propose how this will work as part of the final artifact.
